Private by design
Your knowledge lives in a single SQLite database on your own device. There's no server, no account and no sync service in between, so there's nothing to breach, nothing to sell and nothing to shut down.
Gnoseis is a local-first knowledge manager and personal CRM. Capture notes, people, organizations and things, link them together, and find any of it again in seconds. No cloud, no account. Your data stays on your device.
Most tools make you pick two: powerful, private or simple. Gnoseis is built to give you all three.
Your knowledge lives in a single SQLite database on your own device. There's no server, no account and no sync service in between, so there's nothing to breach, nothing to sell and nothing to shut down.
Link any record to any other: a meeting note to the people who attended, the client they work for and the contract it's about. Knowledge builds up as a web of links, not a pile of folders.
One search box covers every record type. Open any record and see everything linked to it, grouped by type. Native apps stay fast with tens of thousands of records.
Gnoseis gives you five record types. Together they cover research notes, client relationships, household inventory and everything in between.
Renewal agreed for the support contract. Migrate the file server before June. Maria to send the updated quote.
You remember half a name, a company, a server. Gnoseis finds matching notes, contacts, organizations, categories and items together, and each result opens with its links already shown.
Local-first isn't a setting in Gnoseis. The whole app is built around it.
No backend and no cloud account. Nothing leaves the device unless you copy it off yourself.
The Android app doesn't request internet access, so Android itself keeps it offline.
Your whole knowledge base is one standard SQLite file. Back it up, move it or inspect it with any tool.
Every line is public under GPL-3.0. You can read the code instead of trusting a privacy policy.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Gnoseis\gnoseis_data
Androidapp-private storage → gnoseis_data
BackupsA single self-contained file, written only when you ask for one. It's checked before a restore replaces anything.
Soon Gnoseis will sync directly between your Android and Windows devices, encrypted from end to end. Your knowledge base won't be stored on a server or pass through anyone else's account.
Encryption keys are created on your devices and never leave them. Nobody without them can read your data, and that includes us.
Both apps already share the same database format, so syncing is a native feature on both platforms, not a conversion step.
With no central server, there's no cloud copy to leak, subpoena or lose if a service shuts down.
Pair an always-on PC as a home backup that receives every change. You get redundancy without handing your data to anyone.
Sync is not available yet. The design is still being worked out and details may change. Follow the repositories to watch it take shape.
Gnoseis is built separately for each platform, not wrapped in a browser. Both apps read and write the same database format.
Your knowledge base in your pocket. Capture a note right after the meeting and look up anyone on the go.
The full knowledge base on a big screen, made for long research sessions and working with the keyboard.
Use, study, change and share Gnoseis. Contributions, bug reports and ideas are welcome in either repository.
